Research Associate
Canadian Centre for Advanced Leadership (CCAL)
Haskayne School of Business, University of Calgary
Over the spring and summer of 2020, I worked at the Canadian Centre for Advanced Leadership (CCAL) at the Haskayne School of Business, University of Calgary. I was one of two summer research associates working on developing/revising their leadership programs for the following academic year. During this role, I worked closely with Dr. Nick Turner, Dr. Julie Weatherhead, and Dr. Duygu Gulseren.

I was responsible for working with the research and operations teams to revise the mentorship program at CCAL. I conducted a literature review of the empirical intervention studies testing mentorship programs for leadership development. From that literature review, we wrote a white paper on the topic and published a journal article.

The literature review formed the basis for revising the mentorship program at CCAL to focus on leadership development of the mentees and mentors. I worked with the operations team to develop a timeline and structure for the program. With the research team, I helped design a research project including setting up the ethics application and survey.

The program focused on transformational leadership specifically, and as a result, I learned a lot about transformational leadership from this position. This experience was invaluable and I am grateful for it.
