Research Assistant
Haskayne School of Business, University of Calgary
From Fall 2018 to Summer 2020, I worked with Dr. Nick Turner as a research assistant. During this time, we worked on various workplace safety research projects along with PhD student Steve Granger.

Much of the work I did in this role was a continuation of independent research projects that I did for course credits. For example, the picture on the left is me with a poster for research that started as an independent research project and continued on after. We continue to work on a manuscript for this research. In this research, we studied how human resource management systems relate to employee work injuries via worker involvement and work intensification as two competing pathways. Stay tuned for a future blog post on this research (and hopefully a published journal article one day).

In addition, I contributed to other ongoing research projects. My role in the paper "The Next Best Safety Dollar: Using Evidence to Decide How to Invest in Workplace Safety" was part of my RA work. For this paper, Steve Granger, Dr. Turner, and I reviewed the reviews and meta-analyses on workplace safety to determine practical suggestions for employers regarding human resource management practices and their impact on safety outcomes. I have provided a link to the paper on the right and I plan to write a blog post on this in the future.
